I wouldn’t be surprised if coastlines were the most photographed places in the world. It begs the inevitable question as a photographer: how do you make an overly shot location still look interesting? I don’t pretend to have solution in this photo set.
Back when tourists were nuisances, instead of rarities, the thinking was that you could get up early. Like that, you would see no sign of the international consumer, with a Starbucks Frappuccino in hand. But the state of a closed country means that you won’t even see the daily, local life that you set out for in the first place!
Coming back to photographing the coast. My final answer is that the absence of people leads to a greater appreciation of the location, a different feel for composition. I suppose this is a theme in these blog posts. A trend I hope will disappear eventually.
